SchülerHelfenLeben 2008 - The future status of Kosovo

In april 2008 CRISP conducted a two-hour seminar with students from secondary schools in Germany. Topic of this seminar was the actual status of Kosovo in due time.

After a short presentation of the simualtion-game and an introduction into the rules the participants obtained their role-profiles and started to negotiate and to bargain. All in all 24 students slipped into the roles of heads of state and of local politicians. By bringing forward their arguments and/or by offering ideological or substantial ressources they tried to convince their opponents. Alliances were formed in order to augment pressure on individuals and triangle-dealings were arranged.

In the end of the seminar a poll took place where four precasted resolutions were up for election. The result was extremely tight and afterwards many students recognized that another outcome would had been possible but as they didn't hold full information about the actions of the other actors they had to stick close to their first priority.

CRISP was highly suprised about how fast the students accepted the role-play-character of the simulation and how dedicated they tried to enforce their interests from the first minute on. Thanks to all participants for this special friday afternoon experience.

To get a little impression of what happened in these two hours watch this little documentary.
