Role-Profiles for Conflict-Simulation-Game_Caucasus_2009
Description:
We are planning to conduct a conflict-simulation (simulation-game) with participants from Georgia, Azerbaijan and Armenia. The simulation will be embedded in a 5 day Seminar, including Preparation and Evaluation. The simulation offers an excellent chance for a change of perspective and thereby increases the participant's understanding of the simulated conflict. All participants will slip into the role of one of the main stakeholders of the conflict and try to enforce his/her interests and to achieve his/her goals. Through the simulation political processes and dynamics can be experienced by this the participants get a chance to develop personal, alternative models of explanation for the progress of conflict. Accordingly the Seminar facilitates active learning and constitutes an extension to prevail cognitive acquirement of knowledge.
Target-Group:
The seminar aims for active Members of Civil Society working in the field of conflict transformation. We are convinced, that the method of simulation gaming can contribute an innovative instrument for a peaceworker's toolkid.
Goals:
Mainly the seminar has the following objectives:
1. Introduction to the method of simulation-gaming: together we want to experience and discuss the possibilities of the method for sustainable knowledge-transfer and how and what kind of surplus it could bring to field of peaceworkers. By participating one is not only gaining on personal level, but gets the abilities, to pass on the method effectively. So within the Evaluation we focus on dissemination of the method by elaborating first ideas for simulation-games in the field and look into the chances and risks of implementation. At the end of the Seminar participants should have sufficient motivation and first ideas for organizing and conducting simulation-games. By this the seminars follows the train-the-trainers-concept.
2. Networking: by bringing people from different countries sharing the intense eperience of simulation game, and discussing the outcomes, the seminar offers a excellent base for sustainable networking and further cooperation.
Discussions on Open Issues:
